What to look for

Any person or organisation holding security for expenses must register with the Financial Conduct Authority as a Small Payment Institution or an Authorised Payment Institution (unless they are supervised by a Supervisory Authority designated under the anti-money laundering regulations). You can check the status of any firm on the FCA Firm Checker.

This is true even of RICS members and RICS-regulated firms.
