Mikael Rust BSc
Former Chartered Building Surveyor (ARICS), Mikael Rust is the Founder and Nominated Officer of FCA-regulated construction escrow provider, Security for Expenses Ltd.
With almost 50 years’ experience, he is a founding Fellow of the Party Wall Academy and a long-standing member of the Pyramus & Thisbe Society. He was elected a Fellow of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS) in 1986 having served on Divisional Council and the Practice & Techniques Committee and was the RICS representative on the Construction Industry Council’s working group responding to the Government’s white paper on the environment. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers and Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
Mikael appears in court as an expert witness and within written reports and has spoken at numerous industry events, including featuring as the main speaker at the P&T annual Chairman’s Lunch later this year.
He remains very active in the industry. He has contributed to the RICS’ soon-to-be-published updated party wall guidance. Recent articles written by Mikael have appeared in Property Week on the 30th anniversary of the Party Wall Act and the peer-reviewed Journal of Building Survey, Appraisal & Valuation on ‘Who can hold security for expenses under the Party Wall etc. Act 1996?’. He has also served on the editorial board.
